Summary

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with strong structural expertise to lead pipeline-related design, construction management, and integrity management projects from inception through delivery. This role involves multi-disciplinary project execution (civil, mechanical, and electrical) with a primary emphasis on utilities and pipeline infrastructure. The successful candidate will manage project teams, contractors, budgets, and changes to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery.

Scope

Proficient in several aspects of the industry. Can lead moderate to large sized projects and make decisions and recommendations on technical or complex issues. Exercises considerable judgment and initiative in interpreting policy in the planning and implementation of major work assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of complex pipeline and utilities projects, including design, construction management, integrity management, and commissioning.
  • Perform structural engineering tasks related to foundations, excavations, retaining structures, steep slope stabilization, and other critical civil/structural elements.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary project teams, external contractors, financial controls, and change management to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, material takeoffs, cost estimates, specifications, and detailed construction drawings.
  • Extract and interpret engineering information from CAD drawings and provide technical guidance to CAD Designers, Drafters, and junior engineers.
  • Review supplier drawings, perform technical bid evaluations, and prepare equipment/material requisitions.
  • Provide technical oversight on structural integrity, geotechnical considerations, and constructability for pipeline and utility facilities.
  • May serve as the Professional Engineer of Record, providing sealed and signed engineering documents.
  • Act as a technical advisor to senior management on complex engineering and structural matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in the energy, oil & gas, or process industry.
  • Strong structural engineering background with demonstrated experience in foundations, excavations, retaining walls, and steep slope restorations.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Structural Engineer (SE) license or ability to obtain SE highly preferred.
  • Proven project management and team leadership experience on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software and CAD systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions on complex issues.

This role involves multi-disciplinary project execution (electrical, civil, and mechanical) with a strong focus on the utilities and energy infrastructure sector. The successful candidate will manage internal teams, external contractors, budgets, and project changes to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering efforts for pipeline and utility projects, including power distribution, instrumentation, controls, lighting, grounding, and electrical system integration.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary projects involving electrical, civil, and mechanical components from design through construction, commissioning, and integrity management.
  • Perform complex electrical engineering tasks, including load calculations, system studies, equipment sizing, and power system analysis.
  • Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, cable schedules, single-line diagrams, and material takeoffs.
  • Extract and interpret engineering information from CAD drawings and provide technical guidance to designers, drafters, and junior engineers.
  • Develop and review engineering computations, cost estimates, equipment requisitions, and construction documents.
  • Review supplier drawings, technical submittals, and perform bid evaluations for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Oversee electrical construction activities, commissioning, and startup of pipeline and utility facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards (NEC, NFPA, API, etc.), and safety requirements.
  • May serve as the Professional Engineer of Record, providing sealed and signed electrical engineering documents.
  • Act as a technical advisor to senior management on electrical and project-related matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience in the energy, oil & gas, or process industry.
  • Strong background in electrical design for utilities, pipelines, or industrial facilities.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Project management and project team leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with electrical design software (ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD Electrical, etc.).
